The development of the 19 073 m² Maerua Mall extension which  opened in April 2006 has proved a great success. This extension increased the leasable space of the Maerua Mall complex to over 48 000m2 and firmly established it as  Namibia's premier retail centre. 

All the major retailers such as Edgars, Mr Price, House & Home, Foschini Group, Ackermans, @home, Boardmans, FNB, Galaxy, Mr Price, Sportsmans Warehouse, Total Sports and Woermann & Brock are trading well and there is still demand from other SA National tenants for space in the centre. This diverse tenant mix adds to the strength of Oryx's future rental income.

During the 2007 financial year Checkers in Maerua was extended by a further 1 260 m2 to cope with increasing turnover and the shop was extensively modernized and a new parking deck was added. The property occupied by Virgin Active was also linked into the Maerua Mall complex.

The Maerua node has strengthened over the past year with the addition of numerous office blocks and a convenience retail centre and Oryx is well positioned to benefit from all the commercial activity in this area of Windhoek.
